The Feeding & Oral Function Package

Empowering you to feed your baby with

confidence and comfort!

From

£199

What is included?

A 90 minute appointment after the birth of your baby to help you feel supported with your chosen feeding method, including breastfeeding support, bottle feeding support, tongue tie assessment and oral restriction release exercises either in the comfort of your own home, or in the Oral Function Clinic, London.

During this initial appointment, a full pregnancy, birth and feeding history will be taken to help assess if any factors may have had an impact on the issues faced when feeding your baby. With your consent, our feeding specialist will perform a comprehensive assessment of your feeding positions and offer support with any latching and attachment difficulties, or bottle feeding positions that you may benefit from.

Again, with parental consent, an oral examination will be offered to assess oral and motor function of baby's mouth and tongue, as well as a general body tension assessment, and if any tension is noted, this will be released. A referral to other trained health care professionals can be made should anything be identified following this oral and physical assessment which requires further assessment and treatment. We work very closely with incredibly skilled Osteopaths in London who specialise in pregnancy, postpartum mothers and babies and often recommend that for the best results, you utilise the skills and experience of us together!

You will receive a copy of the full assessment, along with a personalised feeding plan, an ongoing plan for support and the offer of a follow-up visit (approx 60 mins) at a time that best suits you to ensure the issues you have been facing are improving/resolving. If tongue tie is identified and division is recommended, we can either refer you to a local NHS tongue tie clinic (please note that there are often considerable waiting times) or perform it in our Oral Function Clinic in Clapham or in your home by one of our skilled and experienced tongue tie practitioners.

We will recommend you have a follow up appointment with us for ongoing oral muscular tension release and my-functional therapy sessions both before and after a tongue tie division procedure, to help reduce the risks of bleeding during the procedure and scar tissue build up afterwards, and to ensure optimal tongue mobility.  This gives your baby the maximum chance of improved oral function whilst healing, and support with their feeding!

If a tongue tie is identified, and you decide to go ahead ahead with a frenulotomy procedure to release the restricted frenulum, this will be offered privately here at Preparing Parents by Emily, who works as an associate to the Natal Network, and you will be charged an extra fee of £150 to the initial £199 should the procedure be necessary at the first appointment.  However, please note that on many occasions it may be deemed more appropriate for you to return for the procedure 7-14 days after the initial appointment, after completing specific oral exercises at home with your baby to reduce muscle tension in the mouth.  This reduction in muscle tension will result in a marked improvement in baby's healing journey post-procedure, reduce the chances of significant bleeding during/after the procedure and reduce the overall tension in baby's body and enable to tongue muscles to engage more efficiently!

PRICES:

- Initial Assessment (90mins)  £199 (+ additional £150 if frenulotomy procedure appropriate during this appointment)

- Frenulotomy procedure appointment (90 mins & booked during appointment with clinician) - £350

- Follow up appointments (60 mins & booked during appointment with clinician) - £175

++ Please note that we always practice in the best interest of your child, and will therefore not perform a frenulotomy procedure without first carrying out a detailed assessment of baby's oral function, offering infant feeding support and discussing the most optimal and holistic plan of care for baby moving forward.
